In 2005, Southern Truck Center was started out of the necessity for a Supplier to service the “Selectruck” Division of the Freightliner trucks Corporation. Our purpose was to recondition and service their used trucks for re-sale. In 2008 the recession hit, and truck sales fell dramatically all over the nation. As a result, Selectrucks of Birmingham closed. Faced with the decision of what to do, we made our most important decision to date, to relocate and purchase our current facility in the heart of Birmingham and to begin service to the public. With this decision, we had to decide what kind of shop we wanted to be and how to best serve the public. As Tim Walker stated,
“We wanted to have a service center like I wish I had when I was working with fleets. A service center where one could pick up the phone and call with trust and confidence. I wanted our service center to have the feel of an ‘old time’ service station.”
With this goal in mind, Southern Truck Center has taken this model and become what it is today. When a customer pulls up to our shop, they will be greeted with a friendly smile instead of endlessly searching around for someone to acknowledge them. We have become a shop that is focused on the customer's needs. When a customer visits us, they know they are putting their truck in good hands.
Because of these core values, we have a large customer base and service a wide variety of customer’s needs and equipment.
When you come by or call, you will always be greeted with a friendly and knowledgeable employee. It is our goal to get your vehicle turned around and back up on the road quickly and efficiently. We not only want to be a repair shop, we want to serve as an extension of your operation. We want to be your “One Stop Do-it All” Truck and Trailer Repair Center.
